Kymia Nawabi Platter DRAFT Beneath the surfaceA wide, round hand built marbled platter made of two different clays whose natural color values work in striking visual opposition. Inspired by the Japanese Nerikomi technique of stacking and cutting different colors of clay to create patterns, Nawabis platter combines both a creamy, porcelain textured B Mix and Mission Red Stoneware, a grittier clay that fires to an earthy dark hue in reduction. Unpredictable, geologic designs emerge from the layered
